Are you interested in, new to, or need a refresher in grant writing? The Grant Process Class is for you. This day-long interactive class will give you a broad overview of the grant process, from assessing grant readiness to conducting grant prospect research, developing grant applications, and managing the entire grant process.

We will cover:

  • Grant Readiness - determining your eligibility and potential competitiveness when seeking grants
  • Grant Prospect Research - evaluating grantmakers to see how well your nonprofit fits with them
  • Grantmaker Relationship Building - building a strategic plan to build relationships with grantmakers
  • Grant Proposal Development and Submission - writing, polishing, and submitting grant applications, including the program/project budget
  • Stewardship/Grant Management - taking the steps needed after receiving a notification about a submitted grant application.

What you will learn in this class:

  • Access If a nonprofit is eligible and then competitive to be awarded grant funding
  • Find grantmakers and assess if the nonprofit is a good fit to apply for its funding
  • Build relationships with grantmakers
  • Write the common components of a grant proposal
  • Create a budget and budget narrative for grant proposals
  • Manage the grant life cycle
  • Improve writing skills


Instructor:

Bethany is a consultant, trainer, and coach for nonprofits and consultants. She brings over 16 years of nonprofit experience and a $10 million track record in awarded grants from foundations, corporations, and local, state, and federal government in the areas of education, human services, veterans, historic preservation, and arts and culture.

Bethany is passionate about the field of grants and has served in a leadership capacity since 2016. She was part of a team of grant professionals that launched the #HealthyGrantPro initiative in 2019 to help grant professionals create healthy work environments that help them thrive. As a member of the #HealthyGrantPro team, Bethany co-authored two related publications – Burnout in the Grants Profession: An Initial Analysis and BIGGER than Burnout: Strategies for Winning the Silent Battle, published in the Journal of the Grant Professionals Association.

Aside from her professional endeavors, Bethany loves reading, traveling (anywhere and everywhere), eating ice cream, and cheering on Racing Louisville and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
